Sustainability: Economic growth isn’t always good, and can happen at the expense of humans and the environment. We recognize that our business decisions result in impacts that resonate beyond our own backyard. We aspire to identify problematic impacts and use our power, resources, and abilities to meaningfully address them.

default veg pilot study

from July to September 2021 we partnered with the better food foundation and default veg on a Plant-Based Milk Default Pilot Study.

we know that a beverage made with plant-based milk produces less than half the carbon footprint of dairy milk. we decided that having dairy milk as our default no longer aligned with our values and sustainability goals. we have not taken away any options but have chosen to price our beverages with milk (plant-based and dairy) as all the same.

when you place an order and do not specify a milk for your beverage we will ask if you would like it made with oat, soy, almond or dairy.

shifting defaults can be powerful, and we are happy to work with an organization studying the impact in cafe environments so that it can easily be replicated elsewhere. check out the graphic below on the study findings.
